Dan Bessie, an old friend of mine, told me about the new web site dedicated to bessie and I listed it under "interesting links." I count Alvah as someone who encouraged me to become a writer when I was 16 and was doing some of my first journalism for the People's World. If you want to list my site I won't object. Here's a recent press release about the site.

Lionel Rolfe's work is featured on an important new web site. The site, www.Boryanabooks.com, will do more than revive important books, music and video. It will also introduce important new works.

Four of Los Angeles author Lionel Rolfe's out-of-print classic volumes will soon all be available on Amazon's Kindle Store. Already, two of them are already there. The first one is "Literary L.A.," based on the third edition of Literary L.A. which appeared in 2002. The first edition of Literary L.A. was originally published by Chronicle Books in 1981. The second volume, "The Menuhins: A Family Odyssey," was first published in 1978 by Panjandrum Books, a well-known San Francisco beat publisher. Now, www.Boryanabooks.com is republishing Rolfe's important book on his uncle, Yehudi Menuhin, the great violinist whose career began in San Francisco in the early 1920s. Menuhin was known as the greatest child prodigy in music since Mozart.
An important new web site, www.Boryanabooks.com, features not only Rolfe's works, but will introduce important books, music and video by other writers and artists.
Boryanabooks was born from the loins of California Classics Books, an old fashioned literary publisher dedicated to fine typography in books about West coast history, literature, politics and music. California Classics Books published books on subjects such as Los Angeles literature and history, ghosts towns of the Mojave Desert, and two books on Frank Zappa, one by a former lover and colleague and another by Frank's sister Patrice.
Boryanabooks will continue to reflect much of California Classic's tradition with books both electronic and paper. But it will broaden its scope by going multimedia with music and videos. We began Boryanabooks convinced that the time of New York publishing has come and gone and that it will never find its way out of a severe decline. Boryanabooks.com is where you will find the nexus of real media change, and give reason for all who love the digitally printed word to sing and dance.
In the not too distant future, "Fat Man on the Left: Four Decades in the Underground" (1998) and "The Uncommon Friendship of Yaltah Menuhin and Willa Cather" (2004), will also be available on iPHONE and Kindle. The book, "Fat Man on the Left," began as an article by the same name that Rolfe wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle about Rush Limbaugh. Then, Boryanabooks.com will publish two original books, electronically, bypassing print editions, including "The Misadventures of Ari Mendelsohn" and "Reflections from Elsewhere" in digital formats.
Books by other authors will also be announced. Keep your eyes on the beginning of a publishing revolution. Bookmark www.Boryanabooks.com now.
