Review Policy

The goal behind Alvah’s Books is to provide an informative review and point out what I liked and what didn’t work for me.  Reviews stay as posted–good or bad.

I don’t have a time-table for reviewing books. It depends on my mood of what I want to read for that week. Sometimes it’s non-fiction and other times I want to get lost in a good novel.

Any book that I personally request from a publisher or publicist gets read and reviewed either by me or a guest reviewer. I’ll be happy to look at books that are pitched by authors and/or their publicists, but I cannot guarantee a review.

All formats are acceptable including .mobi for the Kindle and PDF copies for Adobe Reader.

For review requests, please email me a press release of the book to .

~ The Parrot Talks in Chocolate

Located in a remote island jungle, Tiwaka’s Tiki Bar & Grill is both the business and the home of the bartender, who views the world around him in a uniquely spiritual and fun loving way. His musings on his old dog, the parrot Tiwaka and the young Tahitian cook Sandy move the reader down an old jungle road that begins with a child’s wonder, through sadness and on to ecstasy.

Tiwaka’s Tiki Bar & Grill and it’s eclectic patrons help tell the story of a young man in love with Life. Tiwaka, the parrot, accepts chocolate covered nuts for words of wisdom and watches the wild and often mystical adventures unfold.

You’ll laugh, cry and insist on buying your plane tickets immediately!
I know the islands very well, and would love to show you around.
